Ricky Hatton the most overrated champion of all time

Ricky isn't the most overrated fighter of all time. Outside his beloved England everyone saw he was a one dimensional fighter with limited talent. He's only liked so much by people because he was entertaining to watch and obviously had heart. However, no true boxing fan really held him in an elite status after his failures in going one weight class above his comfort zone.Comment

Sorry to say this but no way. Eddie is fast turning into every other American heavyweight, woefully out of shape. He looked horrible against Peter and came in at his highest weight which has been escalating. As long as the Dr.s of Doom hold the titles he will never be champ. And Arreola KO's Chamber in under 5.Comment

You know, normally I would jump on this bandwagon because I really think Hatton is sooo overrated and I see the same thing as you, but he has accomplished a lot in his career and I do respect him for the fanbase he has brought to boxing. He will never be in a big pay per view fight again but I would like to see him fight Tim Bradley, who I think he could probably beat, so I can truly judge his greatest or lack their of. I think his most impressive win was against Malignaggi to be honest. Tszyu was washed up and overrated as well, he had crazy power and pretty good accuracy. Castillo was washed up as well.
ricky is highly overrated when you compare him to fighters like floyd. pacquiao is little better then ricky in the champiuonship fight department . he is 8-1-2 in championship fights, which pales in compariosn to floyd who is 18-0 in championship fightsComment

having grown to like hatton now, but before i never did, it wasn't until he started fighting in the states and putting his ass on the line that i became a fan, i think hatton brings a good energy to the sport, but with all that being said, i have always criticized hattons career before he came to fight in the states because of his manager frank warren. hatton is a product of frank warren and warrens specialized match making, all of warrens top fighters, all his money makers have built up fluffed up record against two types of opponents, it's real easy to follow, the two types of fighters are 1) guys who are undefeated or have winning records who aren't ready for the A level fighters or just A level toughness, and they can't compete of hold their own going into the fight because they're overmatched, and 2) the old veteran who still has a solid record but who is not on the level any more and hasn't the same skill set as he once had, and other aging issues.
this is the typical frank warren formula for his match making, this is how warren has built up his fighters, and this is how his fighters get exposed once they've either left him and start making fights on their own, or when they fight out of their comfort zone without hometown judges and refs. it seems that his fighters have a tendency to lose once they step up on the fights people have always wanted to see warrens fighters fight. hamed exposed by barrera, hatton the bully was bullied by mayweather, and calzaghe's toughest fight that he refuses to rematch was against hopkins, which was a split decision that could be argued either way, but it goes right into what i was saying, warren wouldn't let calzaghe fight hopkins until he was old, but i guess hopkins wasn't old enough, same with calzaghe and roy jones, but this time, calzaghe already knew the game plan and made the fight with jones himself, knowing jones was a SHELL of a man of who he used to be.............
basically, warren fluffs up his fighters, people believe the hype, add to the hype, and when guys get exposed, this is what happens, everyone is screaming hype job.
i will say this, hype job or not, hatton grew on me and i became a fan of sorts, mainly because he's exciting and puts his neck out on the line. hype or not, hatton delivers on getting in the mix inside the ring, can't fault him for that.Comment
