    10 Reasons Pacquiao is Great!

    10 Reasons Pacquiao is Great

    By Michael Rosenthal

A weekly boxing list compiled by Michael Rosenthal. This week: Ten reasons Manny Pacquiao is great.

    1. 5-1-1 against top Mexicans: This cannot be overemphasized. His consistency against Barrera, Morales and Marquez is his greatest achievement.
    2. 17-1-2 with Freddie Roach: He joined forces with Roach in 2001 and has been an absolute force ever since against some of the best fighters in the world.
    3. Manner in which he wins: He’s not just winning fights; the way he destroys his opponents also leaves viewers in awe.
    4. Longevity: He has been ranked among the top few fighters in every weight class in which he has fought for more than 10 years.
    5. Opposition in general: He has fought 15 times against current or former world title holders and is 11-2-2. He’s also 7-1-1 against future hall of famers (assuming Hatton gets in).
    6. Always improving: There has been no plateau in his career. He’s been a pro for 14 years yet continues to improve dramatically.
    7. Maintaining power at heavier weights: He had KO power at 108 pounds and he seems to have the same KO power at 140. Amazing.
    8. Maintaining speed at heavier weights: A fighter is supposed to slow down as he gets heavier. Could Pacquiao be getting quicker?
    9. Ability to deal with pressure: He has the hopes and dreams of a country on his shoulders yet never seems fazed and almost always gets the job done.
    10. The punch: Sometimes a single moment in a fighter’s career stands out above everything else. His KO punch on Saturday might be his moment.

I say Pacquiao is not only great... He is the GREATEST!!!

That's really some biased, kool aid drinker bull****.

Manner in which he wins: He’s not just winning fights; the way he destroys his opponents also leaves viewers in awe.
If this were a credential for one's worthy ATG status, then Julian Jackson would be the GOAT. And the Klitschkos would be in the top 10.

Always improving: There has been no plateau in his career. He’s been a pro for 14 years yet continues to improve dramatically.
He's improved leaps and bounds beyond what he was when he completed the Morales trilogy, but since then he's basically been about the same. The only new thing is that he throws the right with more regularity.

But it's not hard to look like you're "improving" against guys who are there to be hit like Diaz, Oscar, and Ricky. No disrespect.

Put him in with a slick counterpuncher again and we'll find out how much he's really improved.

Maintaining speed at heavier weights: A fighter is supposed to slow down as he gets heavier. Could Pacquiao be getting quicker?
No, he not. He looks slower everytime I see him, actually.

It's funny ; when you watch him shadowbox without gloves on, he's got the fastest hands in the boxing world.

But you put gloves on him, and his speed is dramatically reduced to the point where you can see his punches coming, he almost telegraphs them.

Watch the fights with Oscar and Diaz, specifically in slow motion. You can see the window of opportunity when he throws his shots coming at you a mile away.

Maybe it's different when he's actually standing infront of you and throwing at you. But on film, he looks much slower at 135-140 than he did at 126-130.

If laying Ricky Hatton out of his ass makes you a GOAT, then Floyd is tied at #1, and Luis Collazo and Juan Lazcano are both honorary GOATS for almost doing the same thing.

Fcuk man...Fo real. I ain't tryin to be on his nutsack and all, but this mutha fcuka's pretty dope ya know? That Hatton KO was fcukin crazy. I seriously believe that he has a shot against Mayweather. Floyd's supposed to beat Marquez, i don't know how easily, but i think he'll win.

Since manny did it in the 2nd round that makes pink floyd 2nd then since it took him longer...ha ha ha

Saying that inevitably brings up the question : Which is more important?

The guy who did it faster?

Or the guy who did it first?
