Ricky Hatton: " I Never Recovered From The First Punch"

Cause Im sick of hearing all the bitching from everyone, here is how it is. Ricky was a good champion who had the balls to come to America, move up in weight AND fight the p4p champ Floyd Mayweather in his own backyard. He tried, but Floyd was a class above him. Then Ricky takes on a wrecking ball in Pacman who was also the p4p #1 at the time and got knocked out cold. He wasnt on the same level as either guy. He thought he was, but he clearly wasnt. They were better. Does that make Ricky a **** fighter for losing 2 times to two different P4P #1's? **** no it doesnt. It just means he was never on their level. He deserves respect for fighting the top dog twice. He could have went out unbeaten had he picked his matches more carefully. But he wanted to be the man. And to be the man you have to beat the man. At least he had the balls to try.Comment

Well of course we all knew he didnt recover from the first punch, He probably would of have a better chance in winning if it would of gone a couple of more rounds but the problem that ricky has always had is no defense, hes always coming straight in and leaves himself open to getting hit, if Paul malinaggi would of been a harder puncher he would of caused some problems. To bad because I was rooting for Hatton.Comment

He won one fight, against the pillow punching Paulie who didn't throw punches, because he later admitted he was mentally scared to throw his right hand due to his hand problems.
In my opinion, it sounds like an excuse from Paulie, but that's the only reason I can explain why he didn't throw back against Hatton. He didn't have any power, so I'm not sure it would have even mattered.
Hatton's chin was already exposed as ruined by Lazcano.Comment

Send a letter to Roach, he's the one who said it.Comment

instead of practicing your "CTRL-C" "CTRL-V" skills, why don't you just put it in your signature.. it would be more convenient on your side..

So Roach is suddenly Ricky's doctor? You know sometimes trainers will stay stuff like that to instill doubt in their opposition and to instill confidence in their own fighters.
I know Roach said it, but you are stating his opinion and implying it is fact. I mean did Roach know Ricky had a Chest Infection before he made that quote? Ricky did not suffer a huge beating from Floyd. He was in the fight early, Floyd then frustrated him, tired him out and stopped him. You are acting like it was some Pavlik over Miranda beatdown.
Ricky looked exhausted that night against Lazcano, but Roach probably just saw a lethargic hatton and figured Floyd had to do it.
Your argument is weak and unfounded. My summation of the fight is Ricky just got caught cold and nervous by a determined and fast fighter Saturday night. Sure Hatton has seen better days, but you could have said that before he fought Floyd also.Comment
