Wouldn't it be the same as Mayweather fighting Pavlik at 158?

      Facts:

Mayweather has fought 5 fights at or above welterweight.

JMM has fought only twice as a lightweight.

Which matchup seems most fair to you or would you consider those fights equally (un)fair?
Are you serious? just look at the size of fighters you mentioned...

We're talking about two natural lightweights fighting as welterweights.
Except one is 35 and unproven at the weight. But yeah, it's the same.

This is the most ******ed thread I have seen from a usually good poster.

These are more numbers, relevant to understanding this fighters' actual size

          Pav-PBF PBF-JMM

          Height difference.................3"............................1"

          in ring weight difference........20lbs.....................5lbs

          difference of weight class.......30lbs.....................4lbs
          where they had
          most of their fights

That being said, it is very sad the p4p #2 can be used as a tune up by anyone.

What about them? He's coming back to fight the P4P#2 after a year out.

We're making a bigger deal out of this then it actually is. We all want to see Floyd fight the likes of Cotto and Mosley but we should all know by now that Floyd won't put himself at serious risk against fighters that might actually beat him.

You know it, i know, my cat 'Missy' knows it. Yet we have endless threads on here justifying this point time and time again.

The Floyd haters and the Floyd stans are all cut from the same cloth as far as i'm concerned.

Hmm... Poor 35 year old JMM has been a LW for less than a year and now has to jump 2 weightdivisions. PBF on the other hand is a fullgrown WW having fought at or above the weight for the past 3½ years.

Thanks but I felt a need to illustrate the monumental task JMM is facing.

The comparison between JMM moving up 2 weightclasses and PBF doing the same doesn't seem too farfetched to me espacially when you consider that boxing is divided in WEIGHT divisions and not height or reach divisions. Otherwise the Leonard-Hearns fight would have been ******ed.

Indeed it is. Thank god Vitali didn't choose Hopkins (a p4p-pounder as well) as his comeback-opponent instead of Peter. That's two divisions as well but there you can talk about a sizedifference.

I agree. JMM is being pulled way out of his element for this fight. It just is not right. He is willing to take that risk I suppose, so props to him.

It still makes Floyd look like the schoolyard bully though IMO. The old saying "pick on someone your own size" rears it's ugly head at Floyd once again.

Hey Floyd. Darchinyan is looking for a fight I hear.
