What did u think of da HBO commentating on da Pac fight....

Is it me or HBO commentary got caught totally by surprised?...how would you have called that 2nd rnd KO?

I think it happened so fast that ol man Larry Merchant was too slow to react.

Lampley...I dunno, I think he got tongue-tied. As if he wanted to say "Holy-****!" but remembered he was workin for HBO. He ended up saying "Oh my gosh..."

Steward? its hard to tell when he gets excited, he always has the same monotone delivery.

Larry Merchant in his prime would've called it like this:

"...Its over JIM!(jumping up and down while ruffling Lampleys toupe and knocking it off)...Like the atomic bomb from the Enola Gay, all it took was one bomb to end this war. Singularly devastating yet merciful, the typhoon from the Pacific has done it again. The Mancunian Bulldog never saw it coming and was knocked senseless into retirement...."

I think they were impressed/surprised/worried all at the same time. Kinda like everybody else who saw it.

The girls watching it with us actually screamed, and one of them started crying.
Me, I just blanked out. Place was real quiet while Ricky was just lying there.
This is a house full of die-hard Pac-fans, mind you.

Not surprised the commentary went the same route.
It was THAT kind of a KO.

All three were like mummies up there.

I on the other was screaming and yelling.

                I was yelling yes!
                YES YES YES!
Knock him out and show the world how it is done.

I was saying things like he is done, he is thru, he is on ***** street!

Man I yelled so much during that fight.
I was jumping up and down :yeha:

I was laughing at Floyd because it took him so long to dispose of Hatton. I of course yelled Floyd is a Fruad! (Yes I despise him that much) SO?!

But I told everyone Manny was going to finish Hatton off in fashion but I thought he would do it in 5 rounds leaving Hatton bruised and batterd. I even thoght Hatton would quit on his stool after the 5th round.

In closing, I was yelling more than Julio Cesar Chavez Sr does when he does the Mexican/Spanish commentating. Julio goes crazy!

                :lmfao:

I was shocked. I was about to jump up with joy but saw Ricky on the canvas and prayed to God he would be ok.

I rewatched the fight with the brittish broadcast version. I much preferred those commentators to HBO. Not only were they fired up....they did a wonderful job of doing blow by blow commentary without going off on tangents as jim lampley and crew are so inclined to do during fights.
