There is alot of talk about setting up chavez jr vs pacman, chavez jr is a contender not a championship fighter, he would be in way over his head against pacman, it reminds me when they put marvis frazier in the ring with a prime larry holmes, he was there cos his 2nd name was frazier nothing more! this is the same case with chavez jr. Arum should be going after fights with john duddy, peter manfredo and other contender's that are chavez jr's level, not one of the best fighter's of the era who is on top form. Arum and chavez snr should go and watch frazier/holmes if they want proof of what can happen when a unproven fighter and contender at best fights the pound for pound number 1
Could Julio cesar chavez jr be another Marvis frazier in the makeing?

I watched JCC Jr's last fight and I did not see anything special in him. he fought against a C Class fighter with no power and looked horrible. he got the decision but in my mind any quality contender should have won by KO. Not much to say about him but he is riding high off his father's last name and the fact he is a Mexican fighter from Mexico. He is still young and can improve but putting him up there with world class foghters and that pretty record of his will not be so pretty for long...LeftyThere is alot of talk about setting up chavez jr vs pacman, chavez jr is a contender not a championship fighter, he would be in way over his head against pacman, it reminds me when they put marvis frazier in the ring with a prime larry holmes, he was there cos his 2nd name was frazier nothing more! this is the same case with chavez jr. He's only 22 years old, and rumor is that his age is fake, some close people to him say he's even younger than 22.
He never had an amateur career. Arum said it correctly when he said "this is his amateur career." I mean, using pro fighters as your "amateur experience" isn't all that bad. I'm not convinced by this guy at all, and i'm def not a fan but I'm just saying, he's young, inexperienced, and is just scratching the surface now. Just give him some time guys.Comment

You guys seem so intent on making sure this kid fails. I don't think anyone has ever said that Chavez Jr. is anything special......ever.
The only thing the kid has is his fathers name and that's it. It's sad really because it's like being the son of Michael Jordan and everyone clowning you because you can't live up to your daddy.
He will never be his father, he will never live up to the expectations his father has of him and I don't know if it was even his choice to become a fighter.
I think he has some good fundamentals but is nothing special but I'm not hating on the kid, he's doing his best in a no win situation.Comment
