if you don't walk around the same weight as your fight weight you're technically weight drained.

      what's cotto's fighting weight? 155? no problem making 143-144.

it's only 11-12 lbs. , still water weight.

a lot of guys lose way , way more than that. even tiny pac puts on 10 lbs. fighting at 140.
$ pounds makes a difference and Cotto is already draining himself to make 147. Didnt you see how ****ed up he looked in his last fight at 140?
He look like a dead man walking.

Again Pac fought DLH at 147. ***** move by Roach to want a faighter unhealthy!!!!

A pound or 2 makes the difference hence why we have weight clasess!

Cotto, Floyd, Mosley, lol... even Margarito and Chavez Jr. all expressed their desire to fight Pacquiao. What's their common denominator? They all have a huge size advantage over tiny Pac.

So it's the 147 division pickin on their lighter counterparts. If Cotto stops Clottey, Pac should stay clear away from his wake.

Umm.... The article doesn't say he's going down in weight.

Also, I don't think it will be at 140 because didn't Cotto have some SERIOUS trouble making the weight in his last fights there?

He will. Clottey is not all that. he just have a good defense and decent counterpunching.

He hasnt beated anyone of notice besides Judah. And you know how it goes with him.

oscar came down 1 weight class. fair deal considering manny was coming up 2.

listen , champ. cotto is a 147 fighter. pac is a 140 fighter. nothing wrong with meeting in the middle.

the higher pac goes up is a disadvantage for him. the lower cotto goes is a disadvantage for him. it's fair to meet in the middle. 143-144 is fine.

don't overreact with the delahoya situation. 1 most of it is just excuses. probably the same thing would happen if it was at 154. 2 oscar didn't weight drain he over dieted. he dieted his body too much. that's why he was walking around at 147 weeks before the fight.

cotto is not gonna do that. all he needs to do is cut a few more lbs. of water. that's it.

He will be drained and weak. This is sime bull **** Roach is trying to pull here. Trying to get every Manny opponent drain and unhealthy, Thats a ***** move, period.

If Cotto goes lower than 146 he is a damn fool for doing so.
Since you are always quoting Cotto, how long did he said he will stay on boxing?

Exactly not past 30, He is 26 almost 27,do you think on 2 1/2 he will get another shot like this? not only at the best boxer but also his BIGGEST paid day. he will fight Manny at 145 or even 144, If you think about it he used to have problems making weight before he hired a nutritionist, now he has one and have show no signs of weight problems, is not like they asking for him to drop 7 lbs. is 2 or 3.

Because Cotto would be HEALTHY at 147. Freddie doesn't want that. Why fight a Healthy fighter when you can have an option of fighting a weight-drained fighter or a past-prime/shot fighter?

Right now, Cotto would be the weight-drained fighter.

Shane would be the past-prime going on shot fighter if he had to lose weight.

He weighted 142, but the the top weight was 147.

Why he can do the same for Cotto?
