no question. Al's a good dude, and seemed to have his head together in the aftermath, but it's an overwhelming difference between an opponent never fighting again and never breathing again. But no doubt, the boxing world shouldn't neglect him/his emotional state in all of this.

Reed reported on THIS site that oxygen was administered in the ring by ringside EMTs and physicians. The TDLR page shows that there were two physicians at ringside.

Dr. Steve Landers and Dr. Grant Gilliland

Also, one report said that hospital staff commended the work done at ringside by the EMTs, TDLR staff and trainers for giving Flores a chance at survival. Laurence Cole deserves commendation as well.

The promoters and charity putting on this show have been doing these shows for years and of course follow the rules and regulations of the Texas boxing commission.

          RIP Benjamin Flores

Al is my younger (and only) brother. Flores and his family have been in our thoughts and prayers since before the bout started, and certainly since. Growing up with Al boxing, our family has always asked for nothing more but God to deliver both boxers safely to their destinies and families. I appreciate the kind words that have been pointed toward my brother, as this certainly has not been the win he envisioned and he is absolutely devastated with the end result. We thank you.

I ask that we continue to keep both boxers in our thoughts, and continue to be as supportive as possible to Mr. Flores' family. This was a tragic accident which came as a result of two strong individuals both working to achieve their dreams.

We will continue to hold Mr. Flores' family in our thoughts and prayers.

          Thank you.
