Maybe his mom might have been old school filipina. If they catch you writing with your left hand as a kid, they'll slap your hand with a ruler. That's how my grandmother was anyways. I think it was bad luck or something superstitious like that.

I found this thread searching google about whether Manny is a righty, as I've heard he is.

Interesting that he is ambidextrous if that's the case.

My curiousity has to do with Philipino fighters, is it common for righties to fight sowthpaw handed? It seems I've heard that it is. Afterall Bobby Pacquiao also fights from the left-handed stance.

Actually this is the case all over E.Asia as far as I know (lefties being forcibly converted to righties). Certainly the case in China.

Also, the method for writing Chinese characters has something to do with it in the case of China, Japan etc.
