OP is dead wrong. Pacquiao is still #1 for the following three reasons.

1) Even if you side with Marquez, it was not a decisive win on his behalf. Both fights were too close to say that Marquez deserved to win. This alone doesn't make Marquez #1.

2) The Pacquiao that fought Marquez is definitely not the Pacquiao of today. He has improved exponentially.

3) Pacquiao's accomplishments exceed those of Marquez by FAR. While Pacquiao destroyed heavier fighters like Oscar and Ricky, Marquez barely won against Barrera.

Sorry, but Pacquiao's destruction of Hatton in two rounds is more impressive than Marquez's wins against Casamyor and Diaz. The boxing world was shocked on Saturday night.

Your point is only defensible if you are pretty much giving skill level at 100% weighting. Which, IMO, would be wrong. He may be p4p the most skillful boxer in the world, but there is more to rating fighters than just pure skill levels.

No, the point of p4p is to be able to match fighters from different weight classes. Upsize Calderon to the size of Pacman and he takes Pacman to school 10 times out of 10.

I could say the same about Pacquiao's stoppages of Barrera and Morales. Casamayor only became popular lately after stopping Katsidis. Neither him nor Katsidis are considered top fighters today.
