they don't have that many big fights on there.

This will be a big blow to the boxing fans in the UK!
Sky have pretty much given up on overseas boxing and only really focus on Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan! Setanta have been a breath of fresh air in recent years and seem to care about the sport, they even preview fights that are not being broadcast on their channel, something Sky would never do.Comment

Haha, ITV buy the Haye match... pfft they are more busy shoving out Liar Liar repeats on ITV2 and 40 year old dead soaps.Comment

Mind numbing ******ity from the Premier League suits. It was known that Setanta was looking a little rocky when they lost one of their two matches packages to Sky, which will really hit their subscriber base (hence why investors are getting nervous). And if Setanta goes under, the whole lot will go to Sky as the terrestrials just can't afford it (BBC is governemnt funded, and ITV advertising revenue is plummeting), and Sky get the whole lot for a bargain basement price as there is no competition left.
And I couldn't give a **** about the footie, but Setanta is (or was) fricken excellent for boxing, at a very sensible price. Hopefully they will struggle on till June 20, anyway!!Comment

If there was a billionaire who wanted to make money right now then I'd suggest creating a boxing channel solely for boxing. They should buy the rights for the big fights, have programmes like Bunceys boxing hour on there and interviews with the boxing greats etc. Let people subscribe to it for a tenner a month or whatever, deliver the big fights and watch the profit rake in. Boxing has shot up in england since ricky and floyds fight, boxing is back on the streets, people talk about it in the pub again, teenagers stay up til ****** hours to watch the big fights, the channel would subscribe a hell of a lot of people.Comment

Hopefully Setanta can sort something out. they have been great for Boxing in the UK over last 2 years or so. I hope they get some investment asap so we can keep the Steve Bunce Boxing hour. Setanta's coverage of Boxing pisses over any of the other networks in last 5years.
Sky are pretty much f'd now with Ricky Hattons career coming to an end. They will have to try promote Amir Khan has the next big Box Office star now.Comment
