My thoughts regarding the Pac/PBF saga

    1. I think the talk of Pac/Cotto is just that. Talk. I don't see it materializing because of the very real chance Cotto hurts Pac and ruins the possibility of the superfight with PBF. It doesn't make sense from a professional and business perspective for Pac's camp to want to fight Cotto and risk an L before facing PBF. It's more than likely being used as a bargaining chip to goad PBF into taking whatever the initial proposed purse for the fight with Manny will be.

    2. I don't get the people who wanted PBF to immediately fight Manny as his first fight back. The man hasn't fought in over a year and his well within his right to fight off any ring rust he might have built up during his "retirement". It's not like JMM is a cakewalk even at the higher weight plus the man is #2 P4P which would make PBF the #1 contender for Manny's P4P title. It's all about building up drama for the fight to boost buy rates.

    3. Shane Mosley is in no-mans land. Feel bad for him. I wouldn't mind seeing Cotto/Mosley fight happen late 09, early 10.

    4. PBF/Pac will do over 2 million ppv buys. Mark it down.

    5. I hope its a classic and possible trilogy of fights to come.

I see your point. But I think it's a win-win situation for Arum, a Cotto win over Pacquiao would highly demand a Cotto/Mayweather fight. I can't see a guy with Cotto's poor defense and non-technicality beating Pacquiao anyways.

I don't see why every one is crying for SSM. He lost to Cotto, Cotto faces Clottey on June 13th, if Cotto wins, SSM has a loss to avenge. If Cotto loses, well than Shane needs to unify with Clottey to make a Mayweather-SSM fight more enticing for early 2009.
