I don't care what anyone says, his boozing lifestyle and unhealthy living conditions caught up with him. when he was younger, he could take the weight off less easily and see less of an effect with every fight, fact is, he doesn't LOVE boxing, if he did, he would respect himself and discipline himself. He's a typical brit who loves drinking and going out with friends on a night out, his heart isn't in boxing. he couldn't even cope with a new set of tactics, his body and mind couldn't adapt to fighting at high intensity with quick movement, jabs and skill for more than a few rounds. it has all caught up with him, you CANNOT train for 12 weeks and binge the rest and expect to win fights against elite fighters who dedicate themselves all year round. boxing doesn't work like that. fighters like floyd, pacman, oscar, they LOVE boxing. they keep in shape, just look at floyd yesterday when he showed his body off against JMM, he looked immense. Ricky used boxing as a pay day and if he beat floyd jr last december he would have probably retired. when he lost, he had no choice but to carry on, now he's lost again, he's gotta retire. ricky has only himself to blame, he had a great trainer in floyd, but it didn't happen for him. he panicked, got nervous, and couldn't adapt. great fighters adapt to their opposition, ricky hasn't done that twice in both his big fights. he's a B level fighter, not got enough to be elite.
Sorry ricky. you're moon nights against kosta was a good watch, your personality is the best ive seen in boxing for years, your the nicest person you could meet, but when your HEART clearly isn't in boxing, you have to go.
