What good is it to cradle an 0 when the guys who fight everybody get all the praise? Shouldn't this be an incentive for guys like Floyd and Calzaghe to just say "**** it" and take care of business? I honestly feel like the weight of trying to remain unbeaten has even made them way too tense in the ring. I feel like both retirements had to some degree be a release of tension. I remember Floyd looked hella uncomfortable in the start against Judah, ODLH and Hatton. I think not worrying about winning or losing allows you to be free and and fight your 100% confident best.

I agree with much of what you've posted.

Unfortunately, in the absence of truly spectacular ring performances, the casual fan gets all moist over an unbeaten record, whether or not
the "zero" has been maintained against decent comp or not.

Pac's exciting, vulnerable, and he wins against top comp. I'll take that
over any technical coulda-shouda-woulda "world-beater" who ducked
the toughest while talking the loudest.

Given all his talent and promise, Floyd broke my heart when he failed
to show any heart by facing true comp..
