A Wide Eyed Look At Manny Pacquiao

Let's take a step back and think about this guys. He's a modern day legend. I wont state Pac's accomplishments in the ring because we all know what he achieved tonight historically. We all know he has faced great opposition. Just think back and think about this for a second:

The man is truly charismatic. The man is a blue collar guy from the slums, a true rags to riches story that you couldn't script in hollywood. Couple that with the humanitarian that he is, and what he does & how much he gives back to the poor in the phillipines. He's almost like Roberto Duran in that sense, people worried about himm being too generous with money. I can go on and on about Pac such has being ranked by Time Magazine in the Top 100 influential people on the world. He has his face on a stamp in the phillipines. I'll put it this way, anytime that parties in a civil war in the Phillipines agree to seize fire for 24 hours just in honour & to watch your fight, well I can't put that into words. That's what Pacquiao's done & it's truly amazing. At this level he's a global icon, and in boxing terms the only other guy to do that really was Ali. That's saying something.

Added to this his nature. He's humble, geniune, same old blue collar guy. Money hasn't changed him. He never disrespects his opponents. He has a fan friendly style in the ring, willing to fight anyone & willing to test himself. He is as down to earth as they come. I mean did you see him walking to the ring? When do you ever see a guy bouncing around like a little kid all giddy and smiling? It's amazing. Simply put, you can't help but like the guy.

You add all this up, and you have a modern day legend. You have on of the greatest fighters ever, with one of the greatest stories. As fans, we need to appreciate this.

Mark my words, Until the day we die people will talk about the great Manny Pacquiao when they mention boxing's greats.

I agree with sandyvahra. Most of us, fans or not, should appreciate the fighter that he is, with all the entertainment he's provided and such, he truely is a legend of our time. Be grateful folks.

One thing to mention I made a bet Hatton over Pacquiao, so I am not a nuthugger (usually bet for underdogs anyways).

Anytime you have the power to have a civil war seize fire, you're someone.
