My take is that during the build-up to the fight Ricky had emphasized the strength and size advantage he would enjoy to such an extent that he simply dropped his new finesse-boxer approach right from the opening bell. After Floyd Sr. admonished him in the corner for the disastrous first 3 minutes, Ricky fared somewhat better in the second but he was still getting tagged consistently because he had zero head movement, kept his hands too low and Manny's timing was a thing of beauty when he countered. Sorta reminded me of Donaire-Darchinyan.
In summary, round 1 was Ricky choosing to fight in a way that made it easy for Manny to implement Roach's game plan. Round 2 was just Manny settling down and finishing the show.

), but the comparisons people are using in regards to how quickly Hatton was put down dont really work, because both fighters use different styles.
