Mexican trainer Beristain joins Pacquiao bandwagon

Mexican trainer Beristain joins Pacquiao bandwagon

MANILA, Philippines – If you can’t beat him, join him.

Revered Mexican trainer Nacho Beristain is betting on a Manny Pacquiao win over Ricky Hatton in a title match pitting two well-known brawlers.

Beristain has yet to solve the Pacquiao puzzle in three fights, losing twice and drawing once against the Filipino and trainer Freddie Roach.

Regarded as one of the best trainers Mexico ever produced, Beristain and protégé Juan Manuel Marquez settled for a bloody draw against the Filipino ring icon the first time they met in 2004. In their rematch, four years later the Mexican duo lost by a split decision to Pacquiao in a fight both of them believed they won.

Last year, Beristain got another shot at the Pacman when he was tapped to man Oscar De La Hoya’s corner. But the General Santos City native battered the Golden Boy into submission and scored a stunning eight round technical knockout.

Now as the man looking from the outside, Beristain believes Pacquiao will emerge victorious again.

“I think Pacquiao is going to win," he said upon arriving in the Sin City with Marquez. “Pacquiao is a lot faster and his left hand is lethal."

The Mexican trainer doesn’t doubt Hatton’s capacity of pulling a win, referring to the 30-year old Englishman as “very strong."

“But the problem is he receives a lot of hits."

Certainly, that sits well with a sharpshooter like the Pacman. – GMANews.TV

He's not on the Pac bandwagon.

Nacho just happens to be a no-nonsense, level headed trainer who tells it as he sees it.

Big difference between Nacho and Floyd Joy.
