So basicly a person if they are eating normally and drinking normally...couldnt just all of a sudden stuff their face and drink lots of water and put on 10lbs....because they would puke it all back up, they would be overhydrated and to full to fight........but if they come to the weigh in dehydrated and hungry....they can make the weight and then rehydrate themselves and eat again to put on all those extra pounds.
      Thanks for the info!

Well, its like having an advantage....if the fighters had to weigh 140 going INTO the ring it would literally be, you have to be this weight to fight...but since the weight ins are a day before they can make themselves gain an upper hand by getting more weight...

So ye basicly...if someone is heavier then you, and comfortable at the weight, your not going to be able to push them around at all unless your stronger...aswel yes it would help boxers gain more punching power, can also help to take hard punches landed on them better....but then some fighters dont depend on gaining alot of weight for the fight....people like mayweather really on their speed really...pacman is kinda 50/50 very good speed, has alot of power too

If fighters weigh more than their opponent's weight at the day of the fight they are less affected by punches especially through the body...see Clottey-Judah fight.

But it makes them a bit sluggish by weighing more than what they supposed to weigh to sustain speed in a prolonged fight.

No one is making excuses as far as I'm concerned. Those who have seen Hatton at weigh ins in the past know that he ALWAYS looks like this, and then puts on another 12-14lbs before entering the ring. He has done this his entire career - why would he suddenly lose that ability??
