    Original post with addition:

People change over time. When you are not in your prime, at your best, you are more likely to do things that are not usual with your prime self...like "quit."

I don't think there is anything wrong with stopping a fight knowing the fighter has had enough and cannot win...especially if he is past his prime, shot, and OLD.

But I would rather a fighter know when it is time to hang them up which he should start thinking about as soon as he starts to slide from his prime...even though it gets tricky because a fighter might not see it, and/or it might not be healthy for a fighter to know it...although maybe it is better because knowing you are declining you can adjust to your declining attributes and still win. Best is to save your money and retire on top.
Bottom Line: that wasn't the same fighter we all came to know.
