    This Weeks Big Boxing Questions

Can Jermain Taylor ever be an elite fighter in the sport again? Is there any way he can overcome his bad habits and stamina issues?

Mikkel Kessler, surely the best fighter at 168 hands down after Taylor's loss to Froch?

Floyd Mayweather Sr, just how much value does he really add to Ricky Hatton's skillset?

The referee. The deciding factor between who wins and who loses on Saturday Night?

Taylor needs atleast 2 fights against guys he can easily knock out before he should challenge anybody tough (maybe that will aid him in actually being able to finish better guys). I think he can get back, but it is a long hard road back to the top for him, but in boxing stranger thing have happeaned.

Kessler who? That guy that looked pretty good but has basically fallen off the face of the Earth. He is near the top I guess but he needs to prove his worth.

I do not know what Floyd Sr. Brings to the table, I think he is a decent trainer when it comes to the defensive side of the game or some real basic fundementals. I do not like that a trainer is late, a trainer is suppose to be in charge so how can he really control camp if he himself is late all the time. I will wait until tonight to really judge the job he has done with Hatton though.

The ref will play a factor a little bit, how grimey will he let Hatton get? If points get deducted that could be big since that point deduction against Floyd seemed to cause him to lose his cool (will that happean again?). If Ricky can keep the fight in close I think the ref will give him a little more leeway, but if Pacman can mostly keep his distance I think the ref will try to keep them apart (atleast I think if the ref is good).

        1) I think Jermain Taylor has the ablity to beat any fighter at 168, he boxed superbly against Carl Froch for large portions of the fight and dominated until he gassed. The Kelly Pavlik win isnt out of his system as he doesn't know how to captalize once he hurts and opponent for fear of gassing out. The skills are there and he trying to stay off the ropes and use his jab, he just came up against an opponent who was tougher mentally and able to hang around right until the end of the fight, lesser opponents than Froch would have gone into survivial mode and took the decision loss. He needs to work on his stamina and I think he can be an elite fighter, whatever anyone says, he wasnt outclassed in his losses, Pavlik was lucky not to get stopped in the first fight, won the second because judges scored for workrate and froch was taken to boxing school before taylor gassed. There is a way back.

        2) After seeing Froch-Taylor, Kessler beats anyone iv'e seen at 168 right now, thus making him the best imo. I still think taylor is his biggest challenge in terms of boxing skill but right now kessler would hurt him, Froch has little chance against Kessler who is well disciplined, has a tight guard, good off the back foot, great in straight lines and more accustomed to 168. For me Kessler is the man at 168 until I see someone I think can beat him.

        3) You cant teach old dogs new tricks, you will most likely see this tonight. Mayweather Sr doesnt add that much value to hatton imo. Against paulie he didnt show any major differences and was matched up with a one handed fighter with no power. Even if mayweather Sr does teach hatton some tricks, that will go out of the window when he gets hit hard.

        4) If the ref lets hatton rough pac up inside, its a different fight. If there's alot of smothering and holding allowed and hatton can get away with some sneaky fouls, he might be able to break pacquiao en route to a stoppage. Thats if and a big IF, he can get inside without taking too much punishment
