I always find these threads to be hilarious. That's why I call him Floyd "Walk On Water" Mayweather. Apparently he is wizard who can evaporate his midsection and can teleport around the ring to avoid being hit.

Too bad it is not exactly the standard counter left hook either.

Key thing is "IT'S NOTHING NEW" and I agree on that.

It indeed is called a check hook, but at the end of the day it is a pretty standard counter left hook that is taught throughout gyms all over the world.

Cotto won't just walk forward into counters like some idiot.

Cotto is a smart fighter.

Cotto fought a HUGE right hand puncher in Randal Bailey- Completely nullified Bailey's right hand and broke him down.

Cotto fought a tough pressure fighter in Abdullaev- Cotto moved and cirlcled the whole fight and gave Abdullaev a boxing lesson on his way to TKO.

Against Judah a slick powerful southpaw Cotto walked him down, cutting the ring off not just marching forward, broke him down and knocked him out.

Against Carlos Maussa who was known as an undefeated knockout puncher when he fought Cotto, Cotto stayed on the outside and used his boxing skills to break Maussa down.

Against Mosley we seen Cotto do a little bit of everything, going toe to toe and boxing.

Against Margarito, a come forward brawler we seen Cotto put together some beautiful movement and land some sick shots but go tkod in the end (we will never know if there was plaster or not but I personally think there was)

Against Jennings we seen a kid who was a decent boxer but couldn't handle pressure. Cotto walked him down and knocked him out.

Fact is, Cotto adapts in the ring. If he is walking into counters non-stop, he will adapt and try something else. Cotto isn;t just a come forward brawler at all like people like to say.

thats what this thread is about. could cotto cut the ring off and get to floyd or would floyd turn it into a boxing clinic. Im not saying either or. Im just saying would floyds speed just be to much for cotto or would cotto get to him. Im not in anyway dissing cotto in no way am i doing that. but that is why the thread was started i was thinking about that some. yes cotto fought alot of speedy fighters and like you said cut the ring off and won the fight. but floyd does get guys to walk right in bc of his moving around and guys getting close to hitting him and coming up short. dont think just bc i said would floyd outbox him and turn it into a boxing clinic doesnt mean im downing cotto. its a question im asking not something i stating.

Im simply asking a question my man chill out. im asking since floyd moves alot and cotto would have to try and get inside on him to catch him by cutting the ring off and catching him on the ropes. again please dont read this and think im dissing cotto. im not im not at all. im simply askin a question.

Cotto is a very touchy subject being that he is Floyds #1 threat.

So the Cotto lovers are very sensitive when he is referenced.

Even when a question is out of genuine curiousity.

this thread has nothing to do with mayweather being a wizard or anything like that. It is a thread started with a question. not saying floyd is the greatest and not dising cotto. its a question posted to see what people think. thats why there is a question mark not a period. its not a statment. i said it is a very big possibilty that cotto catches floyd and drops him. im also saying thee is a very big possibility that may cruises to an easy win with his speed and bateing cotto in.

No its not, or at least not for Mayweather. He runs the risk of losing his winning streak towards Miguel Cotto.


Its still a good match, since Cotto happens to be a great puncher/boxer who's left hand is as good as is right.

Tracking Floyd down wont be a problem. If Cotto's not the best at cutting the ring off int he sport then he's 2nd or 3rd. Finding ways to land leather on Floyd wihtout being countered silly will be the issue. I think his jab is an important and valuable weapon in the fight. Because you have to be able to fight Floyd from a distance as well as up close. It's no good doing all the hard work inside when you're getting tagged on the way in.
