Mayweather v Marquez set for July 18th

Floyd Mayweather is poised for a dramatic return to boxing.

Sky Sports News understands that the Pretty Boy will make a comeback on July 18 against Mexican ace Juan Manuel Marquez.

An official announcement is expected in the next few days, possibly after Ricky Hatton takes on Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night, live on Sky Box Office.

The news will come as a huge pre-fight boost to Hatton, because it is also understood that the winner of that will meet the winner of Mayweather-Marquez, probably at the tail-end of the year.

Hatton has always craved a rematch since his 10-round schooling at the hands of the former pound-for-pound king in December 2007.

That was the last time Mayweather Jr boxed but it is well-known that he has kept himself in shape.

Before Saturday's superfight was signed and sealed there were also strong rumours of an four-way eliminator with involving the Pretty Boy, Hatton, Pacquiao and Marquez, with the winners facing off in another blockbusting battle for pound-for-pound supremacy.

And in the run-up to the Hitman's showdown with Pacquiao, his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr all but confirmed his soon would soon be back in the ring.
    Allegiances

But in a further boost for the Mancunian, he also revealed that should there be a rematch, he is willing to go against his son and stay in in Hatton's corner.

"That's where I'll be, exactly where I'll be," he said when asked if would switch allegiances in a possible rematch.

"Little Floyd is back in the gym but I'm not concerned about when he is fighting, I'm training Ricky Hatton now. Me and my son have had a fall-out and I'm going to let it be that way."

Mayweather Jr has won all 39 fights and boasts victories over Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah and Oscar De La Hoya among others.

But he has never captured the hearts of the American fight public and even broke down in tears after beating Carlos Baldomir in April 2006, claiming he was going to walk away from a sport that didn't appreciate him.

He boxed twice more, beating Hatton and De La Hoya and even turned his hand to WWE wrestling.

I'll believe it when the official announcement is made; this report isn't anything new.

yea so that snake freddie roach can set up a catchweight, so little paccy can have a built in advantage.....either step up and fight weight classes or go home....at least when hatton got KTFO he stepped up.....more then i can say for roach and his crew.

gives me the shakes just thinking about freddie roach....no pun intended
