Tomorrow night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, we get treated to the first superfight of 2009. Manny Pacquiao challenges the junior welterweight reign of Ricky Hatton. Filipino and British fans are storming the Vegas strip by the thousands. Since the recent retirement of Oscar De La Hoya, Pacquiao and Hatton have emerged as two of the biggest ticket sellers in the sport. The fight is very important for a number of reasons. The biggest is the globalization of boxing. If the HBO pay-per-view numbers come back with a significant number, it proves that a major fight in America does not require an American-based fighter to be involved. [details]

I think people need to take a look at the Marquez fight to get an idea of what Hatton will do against Manny. Manny has the speed and could possibly shock Hatton with a flash knockdown as he did against Marquez, but Hatton is faster and stronger that Marquez and will fare better. I believe that Hatton will stop Manny and the glorious ride we have had for so many years on the Manny train will be over

Just watched the Paulie and Hatton replay on HBO. Paulie was barely throwing and even when he was his jab still found a home on Hattons face. Paulie did most of the holding in that one but again Paulie rarely threw anything but his jab. With that being said, how can anyone determine Hatton has gotten better when Paulie was more just hanging around then fighting. He didnt throw his right on Hatton for some reason.

i said to myself after the oscar fight n when this fight got signed that hatton would win with those vicious body shots and taking the fight to pac. as soon as i saw the odds i thought to myself im pounding hatton. my gut says ricky's just too big, it's his weight class & pac is in my eyes unproven above 135. As much as i'd love to see manny win as it would put him higher up on the all time list, as good as it would be for the sport, i think fighting in your 4th weight class in 4 fights will ultimately take its toll. the guy is human, him being favoured is mind boggling. As long as ricky is as aggressive as normal and backs pac up i cant see him not winning and expect a late round stoppage. Hatton TKO 10. I really really hope im wrong.
