Hatton won't be able to take the type of clean shots Margarito walked through and retain/gain steam. If Manny gets anywhere close to landing the type of combos Cotto did, Hatton either won't see the later rounds or he'll be a sitting duck, either way Pac wins.

how that fight progressed makes sense that it could go that route....but i do agree with the other posters that niether guy fights like cotto/margo.....but i do agree pac cant dance for 12 rounds for hatton that will just keep coming.....cotto tryed that against margo...and would have lost a decsion minus the plaster.....margo's style was all wrong for cotto....palster or no plaster...but thats a different thread

Hatton's footwork is worlds apart from Margarito's. Oh... And he doesn't need plaster to win his fights, he only needs enough love to hug you.

The difference being that Margarito has the ability to sustain ridiculous, comical amounts of punishment, which is not a trait I would associate with Hatton.

To fight the fight that Margarito fought against Cotto, you have to be willing to walk through a real s--- storm.

Ricky Hatton is not much bigger (if at all) than Pacquiao. Hatton isn't going to walk down Pacquiao who waits for a fighter to keep coming forward giving him the advantage to use his counter punching which is an asset he without a doubt has over Hatton.

Also, Hatton doesn't have the chin that Margarito has (or had).
