it's not about heart and they're not rejecting him it's just that he's not Irish and they don't see him as Irish as he wasn't born and bred in Ireland. He's an American and at very most represents Irish-America. The country of Ireland is 3,000 miles away.

Some people have trouble accepting Lewis as British and not Canadian and he was born and actually lived here until he was 12. He's British to me btw.

I see what you're saying, but you need to realise some people want to grasp their roots and take pride in their ancestry. It isn't just about where you are born but more about ancestrial acknowledgment.

He isn't from Africa necessarily. He was born here. His parents and there parents were also born here. So doesn't that just make him an American of a darker skin tone? I've never understood the necessity of the word African in African American when generation after generation has been born here. My ethnicity and racial make up is that of Latin descent, so I am Puerto Rican by blood but I am an American when it comes down to it. Doesn't the same logic apply here?

This argument is kinda sounding like this argument. White people called Black people the n-bomb. Then Blacks turned the word into something that was cool that only they could say. Now that the word is cool and white people can't get away with saying it now some white people want blacks to stop using it casue its offensive.
