  • A prime Roberto Duran

Where do you rate the prime Duran in the best boxers ever? The Duran from the first Sugar Ray fight.

Wonder how long it'll take for this to turn into a flame war.

He might have primed before, but that was still his best performance.

For sure, but obviously Leonard was the bigger name, he only had a couple of fights at welterweight before the fight i think. Plus Sugar Ray was an unbeaten household name and was the favourite to win.

True but sometimes your best win isn't your best performance nor do you have to be in your prime. Leonard was certainly not at his peak against Hagler yet it's one of his biggest wins.

I do think that Duran looked amazing against Leonard but he had some rather mediocre performances before that, not including the Palomino fight in which he looked great. He also seemed to be taking rounds off, making the fight closer on the scorecards than it truly was.
