Former world champions and ring legends Hector “Macho” Camacho Sr. (79-5-2, 38 KOs) and Luis Ramon “Yory Boy” Campas (92-14, 74 KOs) will collide in the main event on Saturday, May 9 in the Mark G. Etess Arena at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Camacho, still formidable at age 47, is 16-1-1 in his last eighteen bouts, dating back to 1998. Campas, meanwhile, is only two bouts removed from his 74th career knockout, a first round destruction of former world champion Alejandro “Terra” Garcia.
The card, “Nations Collide 2”, is available live on pay-per-view. The promoters are Dee Lee Promotions, Unlimited vision Productions, and Real fighting Championships.
“I still have the skills to pay the bills,” said Camacho, who has held the WBC super featherweight, WBC lightweight, and WBO junior welterweight titles, among others. “I never had an easy fight with any Mexican, and I know Campas does not play. It will be a classic fight, but I will beat him down. He will see Puerto Rican pride up close and personal.
Campas, a former IBF junior middleweight champion himself, stated, “I like to watch Camacho because his wiggling and dancing amuse me. We are in the ring, not on ‘Dancing with the Stars’, and I will make Camacho dance to my “Yory Boy” tune. The forecast for Hector is pain.”
