He does punch like a amature and his speed is overrated. Its the same thing Ive been saying on these boards for years about different guys when people compare there speed to Floyd's. Alot of people say that guys like Pac or Zab are faster then Floyd and Ive always responded by saying that they just look faster because there just throwing a bunch of punches back to back while Floyd always throws a displined precise punch. Zab is always going to look faster because he's just letting his hands. Floyd will never fight like that so he wont look faster. His punch is always going to be designed to be thrown perfect and hit a certain target. He's never just going to throw just 10 straight punches. For what? Thats amatureish. Thats what Sr is saying. Obviously Pac is a winner so you cant hate it on but I watch alot of his fights and people are amazed by his speed but Im not. He's basically just throwing punches and letting his hands go. Anyone can look fast like that.
JMM is not going to throw his punches like that so he has no chance to look that fast. All his punches are going to be precised and designed to do something or setup something. Pac's is more of just throwing 10 and hoping that 4 or 5 land clean. Its just 2 different styles. Thats why Pac's speed isnt that huge of a factor when he fights JMM because JMM has the better timing. Thats what Senior means. Senior honestly feels that if you know boxing then you can let Pac throw that crap all D, block it, time it, and just counter back. Again, I think Pac, Calzaghe, and all those guys really benefit more from being Southpaws. Thats what kills there opponents. If they were righties then they wouldnt be half as good. Its there Southpaw style that give the people the biggest fit. If Pac was righty then JMM would skunk him every time. Pac's speed would mean nothing. Basically, Senior wouldnt let Pac swing that way if he was his trainer. No one cares though because he's a lefty and can get away with it. If he was righty and doing that then he wouldnt land a single punch. He's just swinging straight at you fast. Thats nothing. There's no technique involved in it. He's basicaly just throwing punches.
