kess is my current favourite fighter, he needs a belt if he is to break into the US/UK, without one he is just another euro fighter who is too high a risk and too low a reward.

I don't think there has been any negotiations so far between Kessler and Perdomo. Palle and Sauerland hate each others guts so I expect this fight to go to purseoffer.

And then of course it could just be that the WBA is showing their incompetence by allowing this delay.

Looks like WBA SMW champion Mikkel Kessler will be out of action this side of summer.

WBA has today announced that negotiations between Kessler and mandatory challenger Gusmyl Perdomo has to end before July 25. If negotiayions is unsuccesful the fight will go to purseoffers after that date.

Kessler was originally slated to defend before July. This delay means that he will not be in the ring before september at the earliest. Kessler last fought in Germany when he KO'ed Danilo Haussler in 3 rounds. That was on October 25 2008.

So Kessler has wasted some 2 years after the Calzaghe fight by fighting Sartison, Haussler and possibly Perdomo.
