Byrd Not a Robber, Ruiz Is

Byrd deserved to win the fight with McCline, despite losing some of the early rounds and even being knocked down.

John Ruiz did not deserve to be up on all cards after losing three points during the fight. I almost shat myself when the cards were read.

    David Tua, where are you?

    I agree fully.

I had McCline winning that fight, but I can see where it went the other way, except the one 115-111 card. There's no way that Byrd won 8 rounds.

Ruiz did come back strong during the last 5 or so rounds and he did give Golota a vicious cut...but man he was knocked down twice and deducted a point...I can't really see how all 3 judges gave the fight to Ruiz. I was shocked!

The referee was awful. He deducted a point from Ruiz without warning. Golota was hitting behind the head all night long and never got a point taken away. Besides the second knockdown was clearly a slip. Yes, there were some punches but the replay showed that they were not clean and the fall was a slip. Anyway, I had the fight 113-112 for Ruiz.

You're right I think. To have him up by that much with the point deductions meant the judges pretty much gave him EVERY round. That is disgusting.

The Ref. did give a warning, he said he would take a point away from the next guy that fouled. After that, Golota showed restraint when the ref. said stop and Ruiz didnt. There was some rough tactics from both fighters throughout the fight, like both guys fighting after the bell, hitting behind the head, etc. but this fight was inherently dirty. Golota showed good control though by not hitting on the breaks when the ref said stop. 2nd KO was def. not a good call though. Still, I think it was a horrible call by the judges and I gotta feel sorry for Golota. Its unbelievable that he can come so close so many times and never once win a title.

Actually, it was a good call. If you watch it again, you will see golota hit him with a vicious shot to the body. Ruiz bent over and tried to hug Golota, but Golota twisted away and Ruiz completed the fall.

There was another body shot knockdown in the 10th (?) (the signal was "copyrighted" so I couldn't record it on my DVD-R), but the ref was behind Golota and didn't see the punch, so it was ruled a slip. The camera was behind Ruiz, so you can't see it clearly, but you can see Golota's shoulder move hard, then Ruiz hitches and goes down. If you feel that the 2nd KD wasn't justified, then this one makes up for it.

oh, so you accidentally missed Ruiz rabbit punching as well as him clinching more times than he landed punches? **** that, no way Ruiz won that fight
