Plus he didn't know the time he had left, thats an obvious one... When ya in the ring its like time stands still for all we know he prob thought he had another whole minute to go.
Should Taylor have taken a knee?

Now I'm all for taking a knee in an earlier round if it means surviving to collect yourself between rounds and have another go at it... it may not be the bravest thing to do but it can be a smart tactical decision that might help you in the long run. But essentially ENDING THE FIGHT on one knee is akin to saying "I'm physically done but don't want to lose." It's symbolic... and not the kind of personality you want to see exhibited from a top fighter.Comment

this is a sport where brutality is rewarded but at the same time smarts is often looked at as cowardice. If you are going through an onslaught where you cannot simply get away from it then taking a knee is fine. It's smart, gives you 10+ seconds to recover, gives you some operating space etc
I am all for toe to toe combat but I also realize the nuances of the sport as well and this is one IMO thats under utilized
and besides. They are all warriors once they step into the ring IMOComment

You don't win fans or respect by just trying to survive. That's not what the sport is about.

If you take a knee to save yourself from further damage then thats smart but doing it to waste time is unsportsman like, thats why Jermain didn't do it.Comment

He still would have won... He could have been Knocked down 3 times and it would have been a Majority Draw I think. Should have taken a kneeLast edited by Ryn0; 04-27-2009, 04:16 PM.Comment
