He was pushed too early in his career, was taking pain killers and muscle relaxers for his back. Roiding. Eating too much.

His fights with Tito Trinidad and ODLH are a must watch bro. But he has a lot of great fights on his resume going back as far as Campas and Wright and his battles with Mosley.

PS. He hated ODLH and the build up to that fight was dope.

Vargas never knew how to actually manage his career, he was too young, here are a few examples of the things that went wrong:
1. Trinidad ruined him, badly.
2. He began using steroids.
3. He let himself go while not training.
4. In the end, he was only doing it for the money.

He just peaked early more than anything. I dont see how he could have gotten much better anyway. He had already faced Marquez, Winky, and Quartey before the Trinidad bout. I also think he overstayed his welcome at 154, and should have moved up to 160.
