He was pretty bad saturday night.
I dont see him replacing Larry Merchant and HBO didnt see it either.
You guys are going to miss Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley when they start commentating.......believe me the fine two boxing commentators ever and yes that includes Howard Cosell also as I believe they are both better than he was.

Some boxing fans are starting to hate on Kax just because it is the cool thing to do now. I remember when he first got on HBO, tons of people that used to watch him on Friday night Fights loved it! People were actually celebrating and applauding HBO for the move. Then, unbeknown to those same people, HBO announces Kax to replace Merchunt and that's where everything went wrong.

Lately, meaning post HBO announcement and retractment, Kax has been trying to put random boxing facts into his commentary to try to persuade the same viewer that he his worthy. There is no doubt that he has heard or read the same criticism from the announcement of replacing Merchunt. It's almost as if he's trying to say, "hey, I know you guys like Merry Lurchent and he is great, but listen here. Did you know in 1922 'so and so' defeateed 'blah blah blah' by kicking him in the kneecaps when the ref wasn't watching. See, I do know my boxing. Can you guys love me again like when I was on Friday nigh Fights?"

He can help himself out allot by being himself like he was on Friday night Fights. Sure he always picked the wrong guy to win, but at least he wasn't so annoying.

I remember when he worked on Around the Horn, he would always give a little boxing input, even though boxing was never the subject.

Plus the guy knows his boxing, hes a boxing enclyopedia. And he actually gets excited when theres a fight.

I'd rather listen to Max Kellerman than anyone on the showtime team. He just rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Personally, I appreciate the intensity he brings.
