It needs consistency because boxing has the UFC and othe mixed martial arts org as their competition now, unlike before. Even HBO admits that ppv buys deminish because of the UFC. Thats why we need somebody in boxing consistently putting up exciting fights with all the drama and hype. And thats what the filipino is all about.

Boxing was so big at that time its like a super bowl event when this guys fight especially Tyson. What Im saying boxing as a sport will be on a complete different level without somebody like pacquiao to make it exciting with the drama, hype and all. Get my point?
so now you are comparing pacquiao to de la hoya and tyson? pac wont be able to draw numbers like DLH and Tyson against lesser known opponents. pac just became a super star in 2 super fights in a span of a few months, its not like DelaHoya and Tyson that were super stars for years. Not to mention that pac is about to retire just when he reached that level of stardom.

Boxing wouldn't be dead if every top 5 fighter from every weight class just died off. Boxing is right up there with soccer as a global sport and there will just be another great fighter once the present great fighters exit. Its a revolving door.

Boxing needs exciting fighters like Pacquiao to have fans want to watch the sport. Most of the people now are switching to MMA because most fights are boring.

                    Any thoughts?
