GP IS A GREAT WARRIOR BUT THEY SHOULD STOPPED THE FIGHT AFTER THE 7TH RD. HIS FACE WAS TURNING PURPLE 10 MINS AFTER THE FIGHT WAS OVER. JUANMA WAS TOO BIG 4 HIM... WHATS THE USE OF FINISHING THE FIGHT IF THEY KNEW THERE WAS NO CHANCE. YES HE HIT JUANMA, BUT HE JUST KEPT COMING...

Indeed, I think Roach was right in stopping the fight. Penalosa was never in the fight to begin with and would of only continued to take more punishment from the younger fresher Champion in Lopez. Penalosa hardly even complained when it was stopped, as he was a very beatan down fighter who'd took alot of punishment.

But no dout Penalosa has one hell of a chin and is was tough cookie......

Ok, my point is Gerry could have been given the respect he needed. Oscar dela Hoya was given the respect he needed, and continued in spite of the trainers and was asked repeatedly, until he clearly agreed.

Roach actually forced the issue, and Gerry did not like it. And I hope when Gerry goes to pay his debts and end up short, losing hope in life you would have the guts to help him, which you can`t. Give him a break too, he was fighting not only for his life but his future and family in financial crisis. He is a prize fighter and he was denied the prize all his life.

They actually took and denied him his last good fight. And what may have been. You see the stats, yet you deny him being still there fighting like a true warrior. He only needed to breathe, no breaks were given.

But the past is the past, no use arguing about spilled milk.

Which is far better than being in a hospital comatose with a low GCS score

I actually think Roach was slow to stop the fight, probably after the 6th and most definintely the 7th is when the fight should have been called off. It was non-competitive. The times that he did land a hit, it was completely insignificant. The rate that he was getting pummeled, especially to the body was rather uncomfortable. Roach gave him much respect and chances to make something happen. For 2-3 rounds he said he was going to stop it and gave Penalosa the opportunity to turn things around. Penalosa for all intents and purposes was just outgunned.

He should have stopped it earlier, but it was a good stoppage.
