no......but would have eventually had to stop the fight.....I think roach should had given him atleast one more round.....that would have been 10 rounds....and I think gerry looked worse in previous rounds......gerry was firing back and was still protecting himself to a degree....I thought if teh corner doesnt see those things, then a stoppage is warranted....roach should have let go at least one more round.

1 round to what?...........for what? Roach was far more lenient than Mcgirt......and Penalosa would have survived juanma? Is it worth the risk though?

Hard to say for sure...he sure was taking a beating and we know Juanma throws bombs and at the rate he was landing it might have been dangerous to let it continue....but I do feel that he probably would have made it to the 12...just in very bad shape...I feel it was right to stop the fight....all the factors where there for a tragedy to have happened last night.

        1. huge puncher with great stamina...bigger man with Superior boxing talent

        2. old vet warrior with a great chin and no quit.

        3. over 1000 punches thrown landing at 44% on an older smaller fighter with a huge heart.

All these things mixed together can lead to something horrible happening...I was glad it was stopped.

true, you make a solid point.....but i just didnt see gerry in dire straits....sure he was getting beatin but it wasnt like he was defensless in there....i think up too a point if a guy is just getting decimated then yea its time to stop the fight.....but at the point this one was stop....i see it minimal could have gone one more round.....that was my point of view.

I see your point as well......I just think when you choose a corner or trainer you give them that "right/responsibility" ........Maybe Roach was Quick jumping in because of his Parkinsons maybe not...........A survival loss v.s. a MAN's life isnt even close.............

Of course it was right. ****, I thought he was about 2 or 3 rounds LATE on stopping it. You know you get that feeling when you think a fighter is gonna come out badly hurt or never be the same after a fight? That's what I had while watching the beatdown. It reminded me of the Chavez-Johnson fight. Very scary feeling...
