In the predictions thread yesterday, I picked Jermain Taylor by Unanimous Decision and as the fight hit the midway point I thought I was dead on for my prediction. Then Carl Froch stepped it up and started bagging the rounds and as usual Taylor was giving the fight away but Froch deserves credit because he was taking the rounds. I had it even going in to the last round. I don't know how 2 of the judges had Taylor up by 4 points going in to the last round but some of the rounds were tight and could have gone either way I guess! I don't really like Froch but I'll give credit where credit is due, he fought hard, never lost heart and had the stamina to give it everything he had right at the very end.
I just feel he leaves himself too open at times and gets counter punched too easily. He does have a good chin, despite going down, he took some big shots well and recovered well after the knockdown.
As for calling out Calzaghe. Sold out Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. Froch is a lot better known and respected now he KO'd Taylor. Calzaghe would have a great send off if he beat Froch and won the WBC Super Middleweight Title and got another big payday. I can't see Calzaghe coming out of retirement and if he did I think Calzaghe would beat Froch but then again I picked Taylor to beat Froch and look how that turned out!
