If you love your fighters why would some dumbass filipino say that freddie roach shouldnt have stopped the fight? because penalosa has a chance. If you love your fighters taking 422 power punches to the head and body is enough to stop the fight. That is concern for fighters safety, roach is not a filipino but he showed concern and care for the 36 year old warrior. Thats love for you.
What i'm saying is that Gerry could take to 12 round Mr Genius. You ****** dumb ****.Comment

Is It really worth the risk though? ............GP no chance of winning(an opinion) just to say he had gone the distant with juanma..........another thing just to be fair how do you feel about barreras corner stopping the fight in PAC-MAB1?Comment

Gerry is Pac`s kumpadre. I suspect he instructer Roach to take good care of the old man. However, I don`t agree on the stoppage. We`ll never know what could have happened, JuanMa`s punches were getting weak that last round. What if Ali vs. Foreman was stopped? What if Viloria`s fight was stopped in the 9th? I feel trainers should have no say in stopping fights, ask Malignaggi. Let fighters have a choice whether they would have parkinson`s or not, Roach should keep his disease to himself and give up training fighters. Gerry was still fighting, he should have fired Roach on the spot and instructed his other trainers to prevent him in the ring. He better not do that to Pac vs. Hatton. It is unfair to the fans, only the referee should stop the fights.
Yeah...this was a pretty ******ed post dude. You go into a lot of crazy **** bringing up Roach's disease which has nothing to do with what happened, but w/e. When a fighter who KOed his last 3 opponents in the 1st rd is setting punch records for most landing blows, I think stopping the fight is without a question the right thing to do. Do I think Gerry could have gone all 12rds? Sure. Would I have felt good about it, no. I didn't feel good after about the 5th and couldn't wait for them to stop it. Gerry looks like a nice guy out of the ring, last thing you want is anything permanent to happen to him all out of being too brave for his own health.Comment

Only few people know that Gerry has three fists, and that includes his head. In fact, JuanMa may have been prepared to give up due to inflamed fists, nearing fracture level, he was about to punch himself out.
Gerry and even the assistant trainers were pleading Roach not to stop it, as was seen from the video.
And finally, JuanMa`s corner breathed a sigh of relief when Roach stepped in, ...Gerry could have won. (lol)
Fact is, Gerry had minor scratches, had no inflamed face, was not staggered nor knocked down, and was still dishing out bombs.Last edited by Thwf; 04-27-2009, 07:13 AM.Comment

Look at the last seconds of round 9, Gerry hit JuanMa with a beautiful right, and a thunderous right that missed.

Then why did Penalosa say OK when Roach told him he was going to stop the fight. Gerry didn't know where he was, he was so out of it he thought Freddie was giving him instruction. Gerry took a beating his face was turning purple three minutes after the fight, his ears were about to burst and he was so swollen he looked chinese not to mention that internal organs might have been rearranged.
Stop being so ******ed and delirious, accept that Juanma won. Gerry was outgunned and had zero chances of winning this fight. If he would have kept fighting he would more than likely would have suffered some serious damage.Comment

Now that was caught in the video. Gerry was telling camera men he was alright, and was a bit mad at Roach.
Gerry should have hired David Diaz`s trainers who respect and trusts their fighter more. Even Jake la Motta would be outraged.Last edited by Thwf; 04-27-2009, 07:59 AM.Comment
