I criticized three fighters. Froch,Taylor and Juanma. Criticizing Taylor and Froch is ok with you but god forbid someone has an opinion on your boyfriend Juanma and you freak out like a girl. Chris John is a better boxer than Juanma, if he can't hurt him he'll get outboxed.

No offense to Juanma, but I bet you if the roles were reversed and Penalosa was putting that level of an ass-beating on Lopez, the fight wouldn't have lasted that long. Gerry's chin is unhuman and unfortunately could be the downfall for the rest of his life (ala trauma induced dementia). But it was JuanMa who was putting on the clinic. What a great performance by him. Vazquez and Marquez would be a HUGE step-up but an GARGANTUAN fight whomever he would face off against. The great battle of Puerto Rico versus Mexico would/should continue with JuanMa and either Vazquez or Marquez. Lamont Peterson fought solid against a guy who didn't really want to fight. I like the Peterson brothers, a lot to be honest. A little more power would be appreciated, but Lamont will get a fight with someone like Holt soon. The most shocking part of the evening was when Lennox twice gave great insightful and articulate commentary during the Peterson/Blain bout. He said that Lamont was doubling up on the jab when Willy was near the ropes to force him into to the ropes so he could work on the inside. (I was floored). And then he followed it up with the heavybag and sparring comparison when it comes to combos and timing. It caused me to spit out my beer in amazement. I usually just laugh at whatever Lennox says because it's so painful coming out, like a stutterer with downs. Easily Lewis' best night. As for Froch/Taylor. Jermain fought better than I have seen in some time, but he failed to follow up on a knockdown and he stopped throwing his jab. When he worked the jab Froch stayed at bay. He was able to control the pace and rest at the same time. Plus he was sapping Froch's confidence. As soon as Carl got some hope in him, the tide turned. Like I said in an earlier post, I had the fight closer than most and thought that Carl had some success in early on with right hands. Al Berstein of whom I have the utmost respect for, was way off in regards to his color commentary tonight. I think that Lewis won this one tonight.Comment

Juanma couldn't hurt a 36 year old Gerry that was moving up to fight him.
Gerry was never hurt in the fight. Roach stopped the fight because Juanma was just outworking Gerry. If he was in there with a boxer like John he would get outboxed and exposed. Margarito broke records against Clottey and still looked like ****. Breaking records doesn't mean you had a good fight.Comment

Lopez was very impressive, he's the first guy to decisively beat Penalosa and doing it by stoppage, no matter if it was a corner stoppage was very impressive, He throws a lot of punches, he's very accurate and he's very powerful. Puerto Rico has the potential second coming of Bazooka Gomez in Juanma Lopez.Comment
