Jermain Taylor says his stamina was not the problem

    From the Ring website:

“Froch produced a great finish but I’d like a rematch, hell yeah,” Taylor insisted. “Stamina was not the issue because I trained well. I take my hat off to him and let’s do it again.”

I think he's right. Observers often mistake the effect of an accumulation of punches as a fighter being tired and lacking stamina.

I noticed after Froch landed a hard right in an earlier round, it immediately took some of the zip out of Taylor's movements. I think Taylor has more of a lack of punch resistance than a lack of stamina. Froch recovered 100% from Taylor's earlier punches, but Froch's punches had a more lasting effect on Taylor.

must have been some great punches cause froch only landed about 4 punches in the first 11 rounds. not to mention taylor does this every fight even against lacy who didnt hit him.

      Taylor has no stamina period.

Pavlik finished him in 6 or 7(forgot) rounds. Pavlik was landing but they weren't exactly bombs or devastating shots.

I think Jermain's bull****ting. He needs to train harder. Supposedly he sparred plenty of rounds. He aint doin his running or sumthin.

With Zab Judah I think its mental. With Jermain it seems like a combination of both at points. His defense is really flawed especially when he gets tired.

Not at all. IMO Froch barley landed any flush punches in the fight. He only started landing regularly as Taylor tired. Froch hits pretty damn hard, but this was definitely a fight that was decided by stamina.

Taylor didn't appear to slow down until right after Froch landed a couple of good rights in the 8th and 9th rounds.

Also consider that Froch is a hard puncher.

Taylor started to slow down after the 6th round. Froch couldn't even touch him for half the fight.

Froch didn't have any kind of rhythm in the first six rounds. He didn't seem to be warmed up, or perhaps he was nervous.

But as the Showtime commentators said, he became more confident by the later rounds. I was thinking at the time "perhaps it's too little, too late" but he pulled it off with the TKO.
