the heart and determination and took some pretty good shots
from Lopez. After awhile I noticed that Lopez was getting tired
a little more careless. Against a stronger fighter with the same
heart as Penalosa, Lopez loses, with that said much respect to
Penalosa for fighting his hardest. The referee was on some
bull**** and Lopez had a lot of elbows to give but all in all
    it was a great fight!
Yea I agree mostly he got lazy with his hands around the 9th...I think a lot of it had to do with the crowd and the pressure for the KO because he was opening up and trying to get him out of there later on in the fight....

I do think Penalosa landed clean and hard right hands on Lopez ....Lopes ate them with no problem....now who's to say that Gerry has no pop...it may be that Lopez has a good beard...I'm not going to say either way...but your assuming already...jury still out.

All in all Lopez A- last night.

he's got the potential to become p4p if he fights the right fights and keeps those hands up.

you have to remember JML was countered only because he was throwing an incredible amount of punches...over 1000 at 44%...not every body has a chin made out of stone like Penalosa.

I agree that he needs to be more careful, I don't know if the corner told him but I know that I saw it and Lenox Lewis made the same comment towards the 7 th round that he should back of and get some space between him and GP in order to hit harder. The corner should have told him that, that in turn might have prevented JM from eating some of those GP punches. Now, I think that JM was confident that GP could not KO him and therefore was willing to trade. If at any moment GP would have hurt JM I think they definitely would have had to change strategy.

so what if JML got countered... he could afford to be careless a little because penalosa couldn't hurt him.

against a heavier handed opponent, i'm sure JML would be more cautious

dude is already suffering from "I'll knock you the **** out syndrome".the same **** that got tyson, bazooka gomez, and trinidad.

though he proved he could take a punch, he neglected his defense too many times.dude better watch that tape and tighten that **** up.

I have respect for both fighters..for Juanma for being the younger fighter. He's in his prime of his career, very fresh and young and strong...for Penalosa for being Penalosa. He's respected in his field and being a boxer with a heart of true fighter. I'm not saying this just because I'm also a Filipino but I have seen his past fights and he's good at what he does but this fight with JML just stopped him. But it wuldn't stopped me for admiring him. Gerry, our hearts are still with u! JML cong****!
