Floyd Mayweather is a bad advert for Boxing. Thats why i dont understand the people who support him. He is reflective of everything that is wrong with modern Boxing. His attitude, his cherry picking of fighters, and treating Boxing fans like something he just wiped of his shoe.

Disrespecting former great fighters.

Before fights he acts as though he is a cross between Mike Tyson and Gerald McClellan. However when he gets into the ring he fights more like a cross between Hector Camacho and Cory Spinks.

Guys like him are the reason there sport is floundering in America.


How can you support this guy and call yourself a Boxing fan?

You must admit. It seems a tad odd that a guy like Dynamite - with zero notable accomplishments in LIFE (Not just in sports. But in LIFE) can be so dismissive of another person who ascended to the very top of a sport.

A guy who represented his country in the Olympics.
A guy who writers - not fans - voted as the best in the game.
A guy who made many millions (and supports his family) doing something he loves.
A guy who kept on track when his dad/teacher/mentor went off to prison.

Nobody is compelled to LIKE Mayweather. He has a divisive public persona. Perhaps intentionally so. But if you don't respect his accomplishments, you are an abject buffoon.

Im not comparing myself to Floyd. Im comparing him to other warriors who have made this Sport what it is, and not downgraded the product with their BS.

Who said they did not respect his accomplishments? COMPARED to other fighters he has devalued the reputation of the sport not enhanced it.

Nobody will ever have the same drawing power as De La Hoya, wake up... Floyd playing the bad guy got him loads of PPV buys and loads of money, he is always respectful and humble to his opponent after defeating them.

Boring style? Aha! Shows you dislike him, because only the Baldomir and De La Hoya fight could be considered boring... Hatton, and when he fought 140 and below (his 3rd weight class and below) he was exciting.

Face facts. Playing the good guy makes just as much money as playing the bad guy and possibly more, and you dont have to be DLH. Hatton made plenty of money and so did Leonard,Jones.

Yes boring style. He fought Gatti because he was not a draw and he knew beating Gatti would make him a draw. His fight with Baldy,DLH,Bruseles,Jose Luis Castillo 2,Zab Judah and the Sharmba Mitchell fight was lackluster. Mayweather just is not a closer. He can have his man well under wraps and he still wont change up through the gears and show true championship quality.

I dunno. I not particularly a fan of him, but I like that he's arrogant. I always find arrogant fighters amusing. Listening to Naseem Hamed talk was always hilarious too. What's funnier is that *they* are not in on the joke.

I think Mayweather is a great fighter. I think most boxing fans appreciate and understand the way he fights. Not sure why he has retired - I don't like that at all. He has never had a defining fight. That's what he needs and he won't get one if he is retired.
