Cory Spinks was bringing it Latimore and Won

I decided to watch the Showtime card over the ESPN card for some reason and was pleasantly surprised by Spink's strategy tonight. He was hardly on his bicycle and elected to try to bully Latimore and fight inside for a good part of the bout. He even walked Latimore down a couple of times.

Spinks got KD'd in the first round, but systematically came back as Latimore became predictable and tired. Spink's confidence grew and began putting rounds in the bank.

Funny that the St. Louis crowed was booing him seeing he IS from St. Louis but was chanting his name in the second half of the fight. He deserved the win in my eyes. Good win for Cory.

Gotta give it up for Spinks, he isn't always pleasant to watch but nobody can deny the fact that he's a crafty bastard. He looked like he was gonna get steam rolled but he found a way to pull it out. That was pretty much one sided down the stretch...Latimore gave his best effort in the 10th but never again after. Spinks dominated the 12th.

The judge who scored 115-112 for Latimore is an idiot.

Good post. There was no way I was going to miss this fight and i'm glad I didn't. I have mixed feelings about Spinks calling out Floyd but at the same time it'll be alright because haters won't be saying Floyd is picking on smaller guys.

I like how Spinks was having some trouble counter punching early on, so he just decided to smother Latimore's punches and make it an inside fight. There's no doubt Spinks has slowed down a bit though. He's prime for the taking imo, but I was impressed with his performance.

Wasn't always fun to watch? Crazy, even when Cory started falling apart a little at the end and they clinched a few times too many, they were still working on the inside. I was on the edge of my seat the entire fight. First round I'm like how the ef is Cory getting hit so clean? Then it's, oh my god Cory is being forced to fight back?? Next thing I know Cory is using his head movement to set up right hooks and is forcing the younger Latimore into the ropes with big 1-1-2s. Damn, much like Hopkins the more Cory slows down, the more he is forced to fight and he's becoming exciting to watch again. I've always hated him to be honest, but I'll definitely watch his next fight.

I dont think Spinks really called out Floyd btw, I think Don King was just using that as a platform to shout Floyd's name and get on his good side. Which is a **** move imo after such a big win for his fighter. I dont know what Mayweather has up his sleave. King did say I hope Pacquiao wins because then Floyd's fighting him.

Yeah he might fair well against Vernon Forrest though, they've both slowed down enough he might be able to disrupt Forrest's rhythm. Maybe after Mora gets KTFO (hopefully) he'll move back down and challenge Spinks. That'll at least be a marquee (sorta) matchup that will definitely land a network to promote his next and probably final fight. Either way it's good to see him get one more belt, cause he's probably not beating any of the guys you mentioned.

I missed the fights tonight, but I am always glad to hear Spinks getting praises. He has always been underappreciated IMO
