Concussion is it common in boxing?

I sparred yeasterday got hit with a punch at the top of the head, went down but jumped up and carried on sparring, funny thing is when i went down me legs felt ok and jumped up and felt fine. But av head bad headache and sore ear since could it be concussion?

Concussions is often symptomized by headaches and nausea. You should look it up.

Concussions is very common but often ignored. Fighters are trained to be tough so a little headache doesn't prevent continued sparringsessions. Sparring and getting hit in the head continuosly greatly enhances the chances of braininjuries and later pugilistic dementia.

I got a concussion from sparring too, but I didnt go down or get hit that hard or anything. The Nausea etc came later. Realized I really couldnt afford to get concussions while in college so I had to stop sparring.
