Some of its a bit harsh, at the end of the day he's fought some good comp.

Urango- Who at 140 is an extremely dangerous opponent.
Mayweather JR- The best fighter of his time, in the USA, In his prime
Paulie M- Nearest rival at 140 and world titlist
Collazo- Former titlist, many thought he should have got the nod at 147 over Berto
Tzysu- Not prime but still a name

There are boxers out there (like you know who) who makes excuses not to fight quality fighters in their prime, then get lauded as one of the best. Its ridiculous, Hatton's flaws were exposed because he stepped up in class, if you keep stepping up, eventually you tend to find someone who can give you real problems.

The problem in boxing today is these ******* that duck and hide away from Legitimate challenges and get lauded as quality fighters.

Respect to hatton, he's about to fight his 2nd p4p1 in their prime, maybe he should have kept that IBF and stayed in manchester fighting John thaxton's then calling himself an atg.

at first he was a breath of fresh air he seemed humble down to earth and had a good style but since tszyu he has gone downhill. it was nice to see someone like ricky but he was never going to be great. since tszyu he clinches more often, brings out the jack-the-lad cliches more often and just seems a bit bloody boring.

tbh honest id love for him to lose and then we can concentrate on haye, and on the development of the likes of cleverly, brook, appleby and the three olympians.
If true, then why doesn't Matthew just add hugs and clinches to his game and become the champion of the 140 division?

Hatton is a good solid fighter. He can become great if he beats Pacquaio then another top name. Certainly in the p4p top 10 - I have him in around 6-7.

It's probably a dislike of the way he fights.

If Hatton can only do away with those unnecessary clinches, he'd do better than being a faster, lighter version of John Ruiz.

I gotta agree, they are just being real.

hatton's style is ugly and he's never beaten a great fighter in their prime and the first time he did he got KTFO.

hatton is a good scrappy fighter but not ATG material imho.

These are probably the same critics who were saying the likes of Jeff lacy was special, yawn.... If you asked tyzsu if he thought he was a little bit special im sure he'd set you right.

The Ring writers like Rosenthal, Raskin, Dettloff, and Goldman are always very negative about white fighters.

They do the same to the Klitschkos, Kessler, Calzaghe, etc.

Hatton is better than Ring would give him credit for being. They rated Paul Malignaggi highly enough to think he could at least give Hatton a decent fight, but Paul couldnt. People basically overerestimated Malignaggi and underestimated what Hatton could do. I could name a few other opponents who were big names who were supposed to do well against Hatton, but hatton ripped the rule book up.

That is how it always goes.
