But Floyd himself doesn't hold this grip over the division or on Boxing in general. If he chooses not to fight the best guys in the division it's not gonna make guys like Cotto or Mosley look bad because they're going to be fighting the top guys regardless. It becomes laughable considering Floyd's fought Zab Judah who LOST to Carlos Baldomir just before. Cotto is a STAR in the sport, but because he has 1 loss now he has to have 2 more fights to have an opportunity to fight Floyd who hasn't fought in close to 2 yrs?
FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS MIGUEL COTTO TALE OF THE TAPE..l

"We’re rivals,” Cotto said. “Mayweather is a star of the sport and we’re in the same company. Mayweather was a great champion at 130 and 135. We don’t know about 140. When the company says the time is right to make the fight, I’ll fight him. I think it's a good fight. I know Mayweather's a great fighter. But I know I can beat him."
"He always runs from the good fighters. He always makes excuses. If he doesnt want to fight, i can fight someone else"

Im not making this **** up. All u have to do is read. Floyd has made excuse after excuse when this was the fight that all of boxing was calling for.Comment

Lol. And his excuse this time according to the floydstans is that Floyd might be a WW but he's a small WW. So Floyd will have to fight a blown-up 35 year-old LW.

Learn to read. I said that Cotto has never called him out, but instead has shown interest on several occasions. On the other hand, Floyd has done nothing but make excuses for why he doesnt want to fight Cotto.

He's ducked the whole notion of the fight period. Everytime Floyd has been asked about a fight with Miguel Cotto, the excuses come flying.
From Cotto not being a big enough star, to him not being able to do business with Arum, to Cotto needing to become his own CEO, to Cotto is not on his level, etc... The excuses that have came out of Floyd's mouth have been never ending.Comment

Once again Flawless. He's ducked the whole notion of a fight between him and Cotto.
Floyd has been on numerous boxing talk shows, and the question of him fighting Cotto has come up several times from hosts and fans who call up. Floyd has repeatedly made excuses for why he DOES NOT WANT TO FIGHT HIM.
He hasnt ducked an offer from Cotto or Arum, but he has indeed ducked the whole idea of fighting him.Comment

"I'd love to fight Cotto, but he needs to build his fan base, he needs to be his own boss" - Floyd Mayweather 2008
But then chill, Cotto was ducking Floyd, "Cotto needs more tune up fights, he's still too green" - Floyd Mayweather 2005
So which is it?
Does Cotto have to badmouth Floyd for a fight? Don't get it twisted, Boxing matches are made by MATCH MAKERS, not boxers. They knew Cotto was the real deal, but financially in the sense of Floyd trying to get the biggest payday possible with the least risk...Cotto didn't fall into that equation, but once Floyd beat both Hatton and ODH you tell me what fight everyone was calling for.Last edited by RL_GMA; 04-24-2009, 09:44 AM.Comment
