Besides the possible steroid use, which is in all sports most likely, NFL players would shrink down because they would have to sacrifice weight for stamina. So if we have a 6'2, 250 pound guy, he might be 230 instead. Guys like Lebron would stay the same because he has everything. Although, I'm not sold on NBA players because they don't show the toughness NFL players do. And even them, boxing is a different sport. What would help is a Great Depression and lack of options like Pre-WWII America. Lots of Irish, Italians, even ***ish fighters back then.Comment

Well clearly this is a hypothetical. I'm not saying it was ever or is ever possible. This sport is too greedy for that.Comment

Wlad would make both of them look like glass chin bums by KO'ing them with a simple jab. Football players vs boxers, lol. If its boxing rules, they will die in that ring. If its a street fight, who knows any thing can happen in a street fight.Comment

You can't take a boxer and expect him to jump into another Pro sport without ever having done it on some type of level, can you?
Starting young is a big deal and a great advantage.Comment

This is why I find the theory that great athletes in other sports could have made it to the top in boxing flawed... If a person choses Football or Basketball over a boxing career because its an 'easier' way to get an education, go pro, and get cash, then imo they simply don't have to mentality/heart to become a champion boxer. As James Toney said; "You don't play boxing. You play basketball, you play football."
How many Italians, Irish, and ***ish fighters do you see today?
Benny Leonard would probably be a Lawyer, Doctor, Business, or in the Movie business if he were around today...not to stereotype the ***s
I'm not even sure Floyd would be a fighter if he wasn't forced to and raised in the Mayweather family....or Jones Jr...or many others.Comment

[QUOTE=Benny Leonard;5131169]Start them young. All their time was devoted to the NFL from a young age.

And that's exactly my point. This is a complete hypothetical. I'm saying imagine if the Lebron James of the world are groomed to be boxers.
Nothing against Puerto Rico, just using them as an example, their best athletes are boxers, and maybe baseball players. If our best athletes were boxers, as Makavelli so eloquently put it, it's over.Comment

Okay here's a good scenario for everyone. Wlad is the quarterback of the Detroit Lions and they're playing the Ravens in Baltimore. Ray Lewis blitzes, what happens?Comment

So here is what should happen: The NFL, NBA, and MLB, should all be banned sports. We tell the youth that they have one option if they want to be in a sport; BOXING. And then place them in boxing gyms (like they do in Cuba) and let's see what happens.

exactly, if you started some of these NFL players young and if boxing got the attention in the press like it use to there is no dought that the U.S would dominate heavyweight boxing. there are some true genitic freaks playing pro football. im Cuban and the reason there are so many good boxers from my home is because the only sports that matter are boxing and baseball. thats it. thats also the reason there are so many good soccer players from brazil because soccer is so popular and a way out of the getto.Comment
