He's a smart guy, he wouldn't be where he is now if he weren't smart. I don't know him so I can't say if he's a good or bad person but from various accounts from people that know or knew him, he sounds like a really bad person.Comment

King is a charming, intelligent, and self-made man who has done countless damage to fighters and the sport and has helped countless fighters and the sport. Just about everyone knows about him being incarcerated for murder and how shady he is in dealing with fighters. If everyone has known how shayd he is, then why do people still sign with him? One, because he is so damn charming, and two, Larry Holmes poignantly stated "That there is more money to be made with Don King, then without him". Holmes NEVER trusted a promoter, and he is one of the few who has all his faculties and all his money. Don King wouldn't be near as powerful as he was (he is declining) if not for the sanctioning bodies and the ease at which they can be purchased. He used them as leverage for fighters and he worked wonders from that angle. One must admit that he did know how to put on a show from time to time, but for the most part he was a stockbroker who traded in people's careers instead of tangible currency.Comment

yeah he did.
He made a lot of things happen in the sport but as they said in "When We Were Kings", he is totally amoral. He talked a lot about getting fighters the money they deserve and helping the black community in the US but he pretty much does and says whatever he needs to do to make sure he goes home with the biggest slice of the pie. A ruthless businessman in a world of ruthless businessmenComment
