Khan vs. Kotelnik - Andreas Says Amir is Inexperienced

WBA junior welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik is confident of beating Amir Khan when they fight on June 27 at the O2 Arena in London. He says the UK star is lacking in the experience department and promoter Frank Warren is pushing him too fast.

Khan called Andreas the weakest titleholder in boxing. But he'll be taught a lesson on June 27!

    War Kotelnik!

So why the hell has he gone for him then? What kind of mindset does Khan have?

Many people underestimate Kotelnik. He doesn`t have a huge power, but his defense is brilliant!

I can see him outboxing Khan, but not outpointing... He won`t get the decision in the fight against an uprising star...

IMO, a lot of people will be surprised to see what a mismatch this is. Of course most of them will claim to have predicted it...

With Roach in his corner I think Khan has quite a good chance, but if he really thinks it will be easy, he's in trouble. I expect Roach to bring him back down to earth though.

He's nowhere near ready for the true elite at either weight. This is a great learning fight for him, which he's far from certain to win. My only objection to the match-up is the fact that if he wins, he's not yet ready to defend the belt against any elite competition, he needs more learning fights first. He was seriously over-protected for his first 20 fights, and needs 2-3 learning fights against people just below the true elite level. This match-up is not a strategic move, it's just opportunism on Warren's part. I fear Khan could become another David Reid. Either that, or the WBA will over-protect him, which would be bad for boxing and for his long term credibility and financial viability. He'd lose out either way, in the long run.

And you should blame Warren for this, not Khan. Khan's a young, naive kid who happens to have some talent, he's not a strategic thinker; and Warren's the guy who should be held responsible for his appalling match-making.
