Why would Williams and Mayweather go to Mexico? Williams is the man who beat Margarito. Cotto is the man who took two knees voluntary against him. He quit with no regard for his fans well being

I agree that noone that fights for a living should be called a coward, *****, or any of the other names that people spew. And I agree that Cotto fought a hell of a fight and was probably plastered by Margacheato but to say that Williams wasn't plastered because he won is just ridiculous. Not saying that you said it, I'm just saying.

WHY MAYWEATHER NEEDS A TUNE UP

It would help if Mayweather's comeback fight were on HBO and not on pay-per-view. In the current economy, it would translate to more eyeballs catching the fight. And it would be smart for Mayweather to take a tuneup bout rather than jump right in against one of the current welterweight champions. Even though he has been in the gym working out for weeks, he hasn't been in the ring for 15 months. The last time he took an extended leave from boxing (seven months in 2000), Mayweather returned to score a ninth-round victory against Emanuel Augustus but got off to a slow start.



Mayweather won't do himself or boxing any good by trying to come back against a killer, only to appear to be a faded has-been. He needs to work his way back; it should take only one fight to regain his dominant form. Then he can step up to a megafight more in his wheelhouse, which likely would come against Pacquiao (provided he beats Hatton) -- the man who took over his spot as pound-for-pound king.



Now, that would be reason enough to welcome Mayweather back to boxing with open arms.

the point of a tune up is not to be in a tough fight...
the point is to tune up your skills and get a easy win because your next fight is going to be for real. A tune up is basically Paid for public sparring session/

A tune up is not Fighting the #2 P4P fighter in the sport.
A tune up is not fighting The WBC Welterweight Champion of the world.

His tune up should be anybody who resembles his next opponent. period.
If he is fighting a southpaw next his tune up should be a southpaw.
If he is fighting a Orthodox fighter next then his tune up should be a Orthodox fighter.

For example if Mayweather plans on Fighting Pacquaio in November or December... His Tune should not be JMM because Pacquaio and JMM are 2 completely different fighters.. a perfect tune up for pacquaio would be a fighter like Yodsanan who is Asain southpaw just like Pacquaio.


A tune up in boxing is the same thing as a scrimmage in football..but the only different is in the tune up we keep score.
